About Grooves Guide

I created Grooves Guide as a personal project to get better acquainted with modern developer tools, but it's also fueled by a lifelong love of music and a preference for listening quality over quantity.

Who is this for?

The Music Listener Population Funnel — illustrating how Grooves Guide targets hi-fi vinyl enthusiasts and aspiring audiophiles, roughly 2–5% of all music listeners

Grooves Guide is designed to help you select the best vinyl pressings for your favorite albums. However, this advice isn't for everyone. If you're a casual listener who enjoys records as background music or primarily uses Bluetooth speakers and headphones, a "better" pressing likely won't change your experience much. In that case, buy whatever fits your budget and aesthetic! This isn't a judgment; I simply don't want anyone spending extra on "deluxe" pressings if the benefits won't be heard.

How it works

Grooves Guide is simple — limited, even. It doesn't scour the web for deals or track audiophile forum hype. Instead, it does the basic math of vinyl production to suggest the minimum number of LPs required to avoid physical compression. If you own a hi-fi system and treat listening as a focused activity, I hope these suggestions prove useful.

I don't own a super high-end audiophile system, but I do have a better-than-average setup. To my ears, the difference between a cramped, "over-stuffed" side and one with room to breathe is night and day. I want you to find the best-sounding versions of the music you love, just as I do for my own collection.

Enjoy!
